Academic and career advisors are still available to students remotely – over the phone, or on a computer/phone as either a voice or video call. Students are also welcome to email their advisors with questions.
The Center for Leadership & Involvement will highlight ways to Get Involved virtually. Look for more https://cfli.wisc.edu/involvement/.
The Transfer Transition Program is offering remote advising appointments for incoming students, continuing its weekly newsletter, and consolidating resources that students have been connecting with. Greater University Tutoring Services has moved its programs to an online format. The Wisconsin Experience Seminar (CP 125) is continuing remotely with both synchronous and asynchronous components, and students are engaging in this course from their homes.
You can still connect virtually with Dean of Students Christina Olstad during her office hours. The Dean of Students Office staff also remain available for support and consultations via phone (608-263-5700), email, and web chat.
The Dean of Students Office will also be hosting a series of themed drop-in sessions every Wednesday at noon to promote an online culture of care. See the themes and dates below:

The Gender and Sexuality Campus Center (GSCC) is available via email and Facebook messenger, and they are currently planning other digital gathering spaces. See updates, as well as a list of mutual aid projects active in Madison for support, at their website. They are also hosting weekly community workday chat for company and accountability. International Student Services (ISS) is providing continuous updates on COVID-19, including tips for students and campus updates. Stay up to date here.
All appointments at ISS are now virtual. Students can schedule an appointment through their Terra Dotta portal. Phone services are also suspended. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or schedule an appointment with an ISS advisor.
Many UW-Madison Learning Support Services are still available to support you and help you continue to achieve academic and career success. Check out this list of Learning Support Services and how you can remotely connect.
The McBurney Center will be available by phone and email while staff work remotely. The main office staff can be reached by email, phone (608-262-2741) or text (608-225-7956). Appointments can still be scheduled and will be conducted by phone or webinar software. If you need smartpen notebooks or ink, please email the Smartpen Coordinator.
While the Multicultural Student Center (MSC) and its physical spaces are closed for the semester, their staff are still available through email and by appointment. They also plan on conducting remote programming relating to cultural celebration and social justice. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date.
Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month starts on April 15, and the MSC will be hosting online events all month long to celebrate. See the full schedule of events here.
The Office of Student Financial Aid is now offering their Success Services virtually. Check out their website to learn how to connect one-on-one with a Basic Needs Assistant and Success Coach, as well as how to engage in their virtual community and workshops.
The Open Seat Food Pantry through Associated Students of Madison is still operating and now providing prepackaged food boxes for students. You can request a food box to be picked up every Tuesday from 12-1pm at Union South. Please submit your order by Thursday for pickup the following Tuesday.
Listening to what your body needs is important during times of stress and anxiety like these. While the facilities are closed, try this at-home workout, put together by Rec Well’s Head Personal Trainer Zack. They also put together a list of other online workouts available here and will be posting more resources on Instagram.
UHS provides many tools to help you during this time. UHS is offering telehealth for Mental Health and Medical Services, and limited in-person visits with an appointment. Call 608-265-5600 or log into your MyUHS account at uhs.wisc.edu to schedule an appointment. YOU@Wisc is a student connection portal with tools, content, and resources specific to UW–Madison student life. The Center for Healthy Minds offers a free app with meditation practices, podcast-style lessons, and more to help train your mind and improve your wellbeing. Silver Cloud is an online, self-guided, interactive mental health resource that provides students with accessible cognitive behavioral interventions 24 hours a day.
Go to www.uhs.wisc.edu/remotehealth for more resources, short videos from mental health providers, links to webinars, and websites where students can continue to foster interpersonal connections. UHS mental health providers and prevention staff members continue to add content daily.
The crisis support line is available 24/7, 365 days a year. Call UHS to speak with an on-call crisis counselor who will help address your most pressing concerns, assess your safety, and connect you with follow-up service needs.
Residence Halls are partially closed, open only to a limited number of pre-approved residents. Gordon Dining Hall is operating with limited hours and availability, and all food is served to-go. Read more about hours and availability here.
While the buildings are closed, the Wisconsin Union is still here for you. The team is continuing to provide dining options through Meals To-Go. The service uses Grubhub, and you’ll receive a 30 percent discount if you link your Wiscard to the app. The team is also hard at work creating virtual events and experiences during this time. Check out the event calendar to stay up to date on the Union’s events and activities.
The Wiscard office is currently open Mondays 9am-1pm or by appointment to help with voter IDs, Wiscard questions and needs, and passport and background check photos. You can also email the team at email@example.com
