Get ready, Badgers–the flamingos are coming back!

One of UW–Madison’s most colorful traditions is returning to campus. For two days, Oct. 1-2, Bascom Hill will be covered in pink flamingos, each one representing a gift supporting UW–Madison.

Whether you’re already planning your pink outfit or wondering how to get involved, here are some tips to get ready to Fill the Hill:

1. Mark your calendar

Add Fill the Hill to your calendar now—October 1-2—so you don’t miss your chance to join the flock. Follow @uw_studentaffairs on Instagram for reminders, updates, and ways to participate.

2. Wear pink

This one is pretty simple: the more pink, the better.

Break out your favorite pink Badger gear, accessories, or anything else that helps you blend in with the flock.

3. Decide which Student Affairs flamingo you flock with

The Student Affairs flock knows success doesn’t just happen in the classroom. Cameron, Sam, Blake, and Lennie represent the programs, resources, and opportunities that help Badgers thrive, academically, personally, and professionally. Get to know the flamingos and decide which one you flock with!

Caring Cameron

Cameron is the friend who always checks in. She represents the care and support that help Badgers navigate challenges and find the resources they need.

Strong Sam

Sam knows that well-being is about more than just getting through your to-do list. He represents opportunities that help students care for their mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

Belonging Blake

Blake knows that finding your people can make all the difference. He represents the communities, spaces and programs that help students connect and find a place where they belong.

Leading Lennie

Lennie is always looking for something new to try. She represents opportunities to get involved, discover new passions, build leadership skills, and make memories along the way.

4. Grab a Free Flamingo at Memorial Union

Students – stop by the Student Affairs tent in front of Memorial Union, Oct. 2, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m to meet the flock and discover the programs and resources available to Badgers.

Then, cast your vote for the fund you want to support. Thanks to a sponsored donor gift, your vote equals real dollars for the area you choose to support. No donation required.

While you’re there, make sure to grab your very own flamingo balloon!

5. Plant a flamingo on Bascom Hill

Make a gift online and head over to Bascom Hill on Oct. 2 with your donation receipt to plant a flamingo. A gift of any amount makes a difference for the resources, communities, experiences, and opportunities that help Badgers thrive. Whether you’re passionate about student support, health and well-being, belonging, or getting involved on campus, there’s a place for you in the flock.

Parents – want to help your student be a part of this Wisconsin tradition? Make a gift and forward your student the donation receipt. They can bring it to Bascom Hill and add a flamingo to the flock.

6. Follow along and share with your flock

Follow @uw_studentaffairs for Fill the Hill updates, flamingo content, polls, and more as Oct. 1 approaches.

Remember to tag your flock! Spread the word and encourage your friends and family to help Fill the Hill.
