Support resources following off-campus tragedy

We are aware that members of our campus community may have witnessed or been affected by a loss of life that happened off campus near Regent Street and Park Street on Oct. 13. While this tragic event was unaffiliated with the university, there are resources to help those impacted. University Health Services emailed campus resources and are providing drop-in counseling services to students living in the building where the incident occurred.

The following resources are available for students and employees at any time:

  • University Health Services: Call UHS at (608) 265-5600, option 2; drop-in support for urgent needs is available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Support is available 24/7 at 608-265-5600 (option 9).

We encourage anyone affected to seek support and community in ways that feel right to them — connect with your social circles and communities, such as family, classmates, department staff, campus offices, and/or faith communities.

A common reaction to tragedy is to want information. Be thoughtful and respectful when sharing with others and on social media. Remember to take care of yourselves and one another.
