Veterans Day at UW–Madison: Stories, Service, and Celebration

University Veteran Services (UVS) and Student Affairs will celebrate Veterans Day 2026 at UW–Madison with a series of events and opportunities to build community.

November 7 is the Salute to Veterans Tailgate, that will take place before the Wisconsin’s Salute to Veterans football game, at Camp Randall Memorial Park in partnership with UW Athletics. Join University Veteran Services and the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs for activities, food, giveaways, and replica gear from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.

The Veterans Day celebration will continue on Veterans Day, November 11, at the Veterans Student Breakfast, for a chance to honor military-connected Badgers and service members. Join us for a drop-in breakfast and a variety of activities to celebrate the impact of veterans and the military community on the UW–Madison campus.

A Veterans Day event highlight is the annual Salute to Service: Dog Tag Engraving Station, happening all day in Gekas Commons, located right across from the Rathskeller, in Memorial Union. The event is an opportunity to dedicate a dog tag to a veteran or service member in your life — UVS will engrave the dog tags on site. The day-long event also includes a viewing of the Badger Veterans Directory slideshow, a tribute to the people behind the uniform.
