Who We Are

Grey pattern background

“Student affairs professionals…are the architects of the student experience beyond the classroom. Their work prepares students…to live with purpose, connection, and resilience. It is through student affairs that institutions nurture the full potential of learners as individuals, workers, and citizens.”

– NASPA–Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education
“The Human Dimension of College Worth: Why Student Affairs Matters” (NASPA 2025)

We are dedicated to helping students succeed in and out of the classroom. Our departments serve students in areas including health and well-being, success and belonging, leadership and community engagement, and student advocacy. We collaborate broadly across the many campus units and programs that serve students to enhance UW–Madison as a welcoming and inclusive community for all students.

The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA) reports to the chancellor and is a member of her executive team.
