The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs established the Cabinet of Student Leaders in 2018 as a formal avenue to share campus updates, solicit feedback, and create a direct line of communication with campus leadership for student questions or concerns. The group also offers student leaders the opportunity to increase collaboration and communication among their organizations.
The Cabinet meets monthly with the vice chancellor to discuss topics related to university programs and services, the impact of current events on the student experience, and ways to improve student services on campus. Cabinet members are selected from a variety of campus-affiliated organizations to represent the diversity and significance of student groups at UW–Madison. Membership changes annually.
