Four Ways Your Generosity Helps Badgers Flourish

Day of the Badger, UW-Madison’s annual day of giving, is coming up on April 8-9, and it’s more than just a day to wear red and Jump Around. It’s a chance to pay it forward and support today’s students.

Every Badger deserves to experience a community of care, a sense of belonging, and academic and personal success. Day of the Badger is an opportunity to come together and make this vision a reality, ensuring students have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Here are four ways your gift to a Student Affairs fund can make a difference for all Badgers:

  1. Enhancing Mental Health Support and Suicide Prevention
    • The mental health epidemic continues to grow among today’s college students, making comprehensive health resources more critical than ever at UW-Madison. University Health Services programs like Ask a Therapist offer easy avenues to seek help; medical financial assistance helps students in need with out-of-pocket expenses; and suicide prevention programming equips students and employees to save lives.
  1. Supporting Food Security on Campus
    • No student should have to choose between paying for tuition or their next meal. Through initiatives like The Open Seat Food Pantry and the Badger FARE Program, every Badger has access to healthy, fresh, and varied food options so they can reach their full academic potential.
  1. Creating Inclusive and Supportive Spaces
    • Students have many ways to connect with others who share their goals and interests — as well as opportunities to expand their horizons. The Gender and Sexuality Campus Center (GSCC) helps students have the fullest possible Badger experience through social events and LGBTQ+ discussion groups and resources. Programs such as the Hobby Hangout and Rainbow Pool Party foster community, while initiatives like PRISM encourage personal growth and leadership development. Supporting the GSCC is just one way you can ensure that every student at UW–Madison flourishes.
  1. Empowering Students through Transformative Experiences
    • The Wisconsin Union is often referred to as “the heart and soul” of campus. A big part of what makes the Union special is programming organized by the Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) and other student-led initiatives. Through their leadership in these programs, students gain invaluable skills that prepare them for future careers while creating experiences for a lifetime.

Your support of Student Affairs funds during Day of the Badger directly impacts students in these vital areas. Please consider paying it forward to help every student navigate life’s challenges, embrace new opportunities, and enjoy an authentic Wisconsin Experience.
