Resources for a Great Semester

The new semester is off and running! Whether it’s your first time here or you’re planning for graduation, there is energy and opportunity in all corners of campus. Please keep in mind these people and resources to help you be well, get involved, and find your community.

Staying Active

Make lifelong connections at Winter Wisconsin Welcome, happening on campus through Feb. 10. Download the app to discover Madison, meet other Badgers, and get to know your campus community. Featured events include Comeback Carnival (Jan. 30), Winter Carnival(Feb. 5–7), and the Spring 2026 Student Organization Fair (Feb. 10).

Stay active and energized with University Recreation & Wellbeing. Explore state-of-the-art campus gym facilities, and snowshoe, skate, or even ski with Wisconsin Hoofers.

Health, Safety, & Support

Food and financial assistance are available to ensure all students have support if faced with financial challenges or emergency situations.

Check out the Student Jobs portal for employment opportunities both on and near campus. There are paid leadership positions at University Housing, Rec Well, the Wisconsin Union, and more.

If you’re worried about a friend, find resources and share your concerns with a trusted source on campus. If alcohol is involved, remember the university’s medical amnesty guidelines protect both you and the person you’re helping.

Mental health services and a variety of outreach events with University Health Services (UHS) are always available to support your well-being and help you feel connected — particularly important during these heightened times of national and global stress. Let’s Talk offers no-cost, confidential drop-in consultations on campus and virtually. Sessions are offered now through May 8. UHS also partners with Uwill to provide no-cost, virtual counseling with licensed medical professionals anytime and from anywhere.

There are many campus resources for learning support, undergraduate academic advising, and career services — including a senior class transition series with practical post-grad advice. The UW–Madison Guide lists comprehensive academic and campus resources for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

Community & Belonging

Our campus supports the free exchange of ideas and expressive activity. Know your rights and limitations on campus to ensure that all viewpoints can be heard.

International Student Services offers many resources for immigration-related issues.

Finally, if you need help and don’t know where to go, connect with the staff at the Office of Student Assistance and Support. Drop-in staff are available for both undergraduate and graduate students every weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in person, by phone, or virtually.

Take advantage of the opportunities before you, challenge yourself, and most importantly, enjoy the journey. Here’s to making this spring semester truly special!

On, Wisconsin!
