Spring break is just around the corner—whether you’re heading somewhere warm or staying local, however you plan to spend your spring break, we hope you have the chance to relax, reset, and recharge.
From travel tips to staying aware of your surroundings, here are some helpful reminders to ensure a safe spring break.
Be Safe and Respect Others.
- Practice safer drinking strategies, like eating before and during.
- Carry Narcan.

- Consent is crucial. Honor the boundaries of others, and never make assumptions.
- Prepare your home for absence with tips from the UW-Madison Police Department.
- Remember to make use of SafeWalk and their free walking escorts until 1:00 a.m.
Stay Well.
- Mental health resources and support through University Health Services (UHS) and the Office of Student Assistance and Support (OSAS) are available. Mental health support is available whenever and wherever you are with UHS 24/7 online resources. Need help and are unsure where to go? - Exercise and stay healthy. Whether you are staying in Madison or traveling, find opportunities to move your body. Drop into one of the Rec Well facilities during spring break, or check out the one-on-one wellness coaching program.

- Take advantage of Outdoor UW and check out various outdoor activities, equipment rentals, and more.
- Let Wisconsin Union’s Wheelhouse Studios be your outlet for creativity.
- The city of Madison is filled with events. Visit the Chazen, the Museum of Contemporary Art, attend a concert at The Sylvee, or even hike to Picnic Point.
