The days are getting warmer and the sun is shining longer each day. Spring is finally here, Badgers!
As you head into the final stretches of the spring semester, keep in mind these few reminders and resources to help you stay safe, well, and have fun.
Be safe and respect others.
- If you choose to drink, practice safer drinking strategies, like eating and drinking water before and during.
- Carry naloxone.
- Step in if you notice something harmful. Looking to build your skills as an active bystander? Take ActWIse, available on Canvas.
- Consent is an ongoing conversation. Check in often, honor the boundaries of others, and do not make assumptions. View resources and support available through UHS Survivor Services.
- Remember to make use of SafeWalk and their free walking escorts until 1:00 a.m.
- If you’re worried about a friend, find resources and share your concerns with a trusted source on campus. If alcohol is involved, remember the university’s medical amnesty guidelines protect both you and the person you’re helping.
Stay well.
- Need help and are unsure where to go? The Office of Student Assistance and Support is here to help you navigate campus life, together.
- University Health Services (UHS) offers a wide range of no-cost medical and mental health support for all UW-Madison students. Drop-in mental health support is available without an appointment through Let’s Talk.
- Utilize the one-hour online training through Recognize, Respond, Refer and build skills to support your peers’ mental health and well-being.
Have fun and enjoy.
- Take advantage of Outdoor UW and check out various outdoor activities, equipment rentals, and more.
- Let Wisconsin Union’s Wheelhouse Studios be your outlet for creativity.
- The city of Madison is filled with events. Visit the Chazen, the Museum of Contemporary Art, attend a concert at The Sylvee, or even hike to Picnic Point.
As the semester winds down and campus comes alive with spring, take care of yourself and one another. Lean on the resources available to you, make choices that keep you and your community safe, and take time to enjoy everything Madison has to offer.
