As we enter the Halloween weekend, here are a few reminders to help you celebrate safely and responsibly.

Stay safe, be smart, and have fun
Make sure to charge your phone prior to your departure and maintain a high battery.
Download the BadgerSAFE app and turn your smartphone into your own personal safety device. If you see something that isn’t right, share a concern with the Office of Student Assistance and Support, or call UWPD at 608-264-2677.
Stay in the Social Zone. If you choose to consume alcohol, practice safer drinking habits by eating before and during drinking, adding more ice to your drink, and staying hydrated with plenty of water.
If you’re worried about a friend, find resources and support. If alcohol is involved, the university’s medical amnesty guidelines protect you and the person you’re helping, so make the right choice when a fellow Badger depends on it.
Be respectful and take care of one another
Culture is not a costume. Before choosing a costume that represents a culture or identity, consider its significance. Costumes that are racist, crude, or culturally insensitive negatively impact others.
Be mindful of your words and actions and how they impact your environment and those around you. Show kindness and respect. Move with empathy, compassion, and patience—for yourself and others.
No matter how you celebrate this weekend, remember to stay safe, enjoy yourself, and support one another—that’s what being a Badger is all about.
