What does student advocacy mean to me?

In essence, advocacy is a relentless endeavor in pursuit of establishing and amplifying the unheard voices of those who reside at the core of the UW Madison community—the students. In an exceedingly diverse campus like ours, advocacy is what enables every student to assert their unique contribution and presence within the academic and social fabric of our community.

Why do you think DOSAB is important?

DOSAB plays a vital role in acting as a bridge of communication between the campus administration and the student population. This committee is tailored to not only listen to student voices, but also address them with efficacy and inclusivity. DOSAB members come from exceedingly diverse backgrounds and represent an array of different communities on campus, which fosters fruitful discussions and deliberations. DOSAB considers student welfare to be of paramount importance and thus constantly strives to advocate for the student body’s perspective to the Dean of Students, in order to enact positive change on campus.
