While many cannot place their finger on it, all know there is something special about being a Badger — and that specialness is a combination of both the academic and co-curricular experience that you can’t find anywhere else. Student Affairs is the proud home of the co-curricular portion, fully half of the Wisconsin Experience that so many Badgers treasure and return to as alumni. Maintaining and expanding that unique experience to all students has never been more important.
Donations to Student Affairs help us tackle big issues like food insecurity, social justice and inclusion, mental health and well-being, and more to help inspire the next generation of Wisconsin students and global citizens. Make your impact today.
Areas of greatest need
The Open Seat Food Pantry
Run by students, for students, The Open Seat provides healthy food, personal care items, and household necessities to all students at UW–Madison. 100% of donations go directly towards stocking the pantry, impacting thousands of students annually.

Student Crisis Grant
The crisis grant supports low-income students through unexpected expenses, helping them to stay in school and on track for graduation. Too often, financial emergencies of less than $500 can be enough to derail students from their studies.

"Simply put, without the help of the food pantry, I wouldn't have enough to eat. I don't know that I'd even be able to stay enrolled without The Open Seat. It's vital resources like this that ensure that all students on campus are able to succeed."
Jane, Sophomore user of The Open Seat Food Pantry

How donations work
All donations to Student Affairs are facilitated by the University of Wisconsin Foundation, which is a non-profit, tax-exempt unit of the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System, part of the State of Wisconsin. The UW Foundation is the official gift-receiving organization for Student Affairs and handles the financial transactions and stewardship of all private gift funds donated.
