Winter has arrived, Badgers, and so has the final stretch of the semester! As the days get colder and the semester continues to pick up, it can be tough to stay motivated to the end. But remember, you’ve made it this far, now’s the time to finish strong!
Lean on your support systems, stay focused, and take care of yourself along the way.
Here is your resource guide to help you stay energized, balanced, and motivated to cross the winter finish line.
Finals season can be tough, but you’ve got help.
Check out Tutors & Treats with Greater University Tutoring Services (GUTS) on December 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free, peer-led tutoring to help you succeed in all your classes. The Math Learning Center and The Writing Center are also offering extended hours through December 15. Remember, the Office of Academic and Career Success offers even more resources to help you finish this semester at your full potential.
Feeling overwhelmed? There is a community of resources here to help you.
UW–Madison offers assistance for struggles with both basic needs and mental health. The Office of Student Assistance and Support can connect you with campus services, so students are never navigating these challenges alone.
Let’s Talk, through University Health Services (UHS), offers no-cost, informal, and confidential consultations on campus and virtually. In-person sessions are first-come, first-served and range from 20-25 minutes, now until December 19.
UHS Mental Health Services partners with Uwill to expand access to flexible, no-cost, virtual counseling options. Licensed medical professionals are available for video, phone, chat, and message sessions during flexible hours, including nights or weekends. Appointments are often available within 24 hours.
Remember, as feelings of stress potentially amplify with the semester ending, it’s important to relax and take breaks.
Take in the last moments of the semester and recharge by spending time with friends, in nature, or even getting some extra sleep.
Rec Well hosts Self-Care Week in December. Self-Care Week encourages students to take breaks and focus on nurturing physical, mental, and emotional well-being during what can be a stressful time of year.
From December 1-17, students can participate in events like late night aqua Zumba, guided in-person meditation sessions, and more. Free group fitness classes run from December 11-17 and all UW-Madison students are able to drop-in at no cost.
The Wisconsin Union also hosts several free events to help you de-stress and enjoy.
You have worked hard, and the finish line is in sight! Take a moment to celebrate everything you have already achieved. Take advantage of the resources on campus to help you power through and #FinishStrong!
