First ever Day of the Badger Giving event a success!

Here at the Division of Student Life, we partnered with The Open Seat, a food pantry that strives to alleviate the stresses of food and resource insecurity on campus by providing accessible sources of food, personal care goods, and household products to any enrolled student in need.

We were amazed by the generosity of Badgers around the world, with 110 donations and over $8,250 raised for The Open Seat. One hundred percent of these donations will go directly towards helping food-insecure students on campus.

“The support The Open Seat received on Day of the Badger was absolutely incredible. Going in to the event, though our hopes were high, we didn’t have any real idea of how successful it would be. In the end, we were absolutely blown away by the support we received from over one hundred donors. These contributions will be invaluable in continuing our fight against food insecurity at UW-Madison by allowing us to serve more students on campus.” said Tyler Wilson, External Director at The Open Seat.

The staff here at the Division of Student Life participated too, with nearly 40 percent making donations. Take a look at staff members from all across UW celebrating Day of the Badger.

Kate Bradley, the coordinator of Alumni Engagement and Advancement, led the project to promote The Open Seat within the Division of Student Life.

“It was an honor to lead the Division of Student Life Day of the Badger team, and throughout the process I was amazed by the students that were involved in the project and their investment in making this a success. It was truly a team effort, and the student’s voice guided our strategy which allowed the project to come to life,” Bradley said.

The first ever Day of the Badger was a resounding success, and we’re thankful and proud of everybody who participated. Students, faculty, and alumni from around the world came together and showed an amazing level of pride in their campus and community. Thank you, Badgers!
