In Memoriam: Remembering Our Badgers

Eleven Badgers will be honored this year in a campus memorial celebration beginning at UW–Madison’s Carillon Bell Tower on May 5 at 11 a.m.

The memorial event, hosted by the Dean of Students Office in Student Affairs, and is an opportunity for friends, loved ones, and the campus community to celebrate each life and legacy.

Associate Dean of Students and Director of the Dean of Students Office Kathy Kruse will welcome loved ones to the celebration, followed by remarks and reflection by Dean of Students Christina Olstad. A melody will then play on the Carillon Bells in special tribute to each student.

After the ceremony opening, attendees will spend time at the Storytelling Circle at Muir Knoll to remember each student and pause for reflection.

The time together will conclude with a reception, providing an opportunity to build community with other families and loved ones experiencing similar loss.

“Today we remember eleven students from across our campus, who were just beginning to explore the many possibilities for the future. We will hold each student in our hearts.” Dean of Students Christina Olstad shared.

“All of them were known and loved here, by their friends and by the faculty members who mentored them. Each left a unique legacy that we will continue to honor, remember, and celebrate. Every one of these eleven Badgers will be missed by family members, friends, and the UW–Madison community. Once a Badger, always a Badger.”
