Pride Picnic Celebrate UW’s connection and contributions to Wisconsin’s LGBTQ+ history

June 28, 2023

For Pride Month 2023, the Gender and Sexuality Campus Center (GSCC) hosted the Pride Picnic on Library Mall to celebrate UW’s connection and contributions to Wisconsin’s LGBTQ+ history. The Picnic was also a chance to celebrate the debut of PBS’ Wisconsin Pride, take photos in front of the display of Terrace Pride chairs (with a conversation with WKOW), and offer a community art project through Wheelhouse Studios.

The GSCC directer and event host Warren Scherer shared, “The Picnic was a great event. We had over 50 people enjoy festivities that offered community-building opportunities for students taking summer classes. The event was followed by pictures on the Terrace Pride chairs; a Happy Pride!” Photos by student photographer Cheng Vang.
