On Veterans Day, November 11, our campus community will gather to honor those who served– or are currently serving–in the U.S. military.
In observance of Veterans Day, University Veteran Services (UVS) will begin the celebration with the Veterans Day Recognition Breakfast, welcoming all military-connected students, alumni, faculty, and staff.
The breakfast will feature presentations from UW–Madison staff, as well as reflections from the Director of University Veteran Services & Marine Corps Veteran Joe Rassmussen and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Fernie Rodriguez. Live captioning is provided at the event, and individuals in need of disability-related accommodations are encouraged to contact veterans@wisc.edu.
In addition, the 2024 Badger Veteran Photo Project will also be displayed. The photo project is designed to share the story of one’s military service while also celebrating the person behind the uniform.
Following the breakfast, attendees will be asked to dedicate a postcard or dog tag to an important veteran in their lives at the Salute to Service: Honoring our Badger Veterans Through Time event. While waiting for dog tags to be engraved, attendees are invited to walk around Library Mall and view the informational display signs to learn more about the military history at UW-Madison.
Throughout the year, UVS offers resources and community for Badger veterans through education benefits, support, and advocacy, and has offered education benefits since the first G.I. Bill ® after World War II.
Join UVS in celebration of this year’s Veterans Day, and visit their website for more information and resources.
