It’s officially fall, which means cooler weather, changing colors, and for some of you, midterms. While we encourage you to study strong, it’s also important to take time to destress, relax, and enjoy the season. We put together a list of 10 things you should be sure to do this #UWFall.
ENJOY THE TERRACE BEFORE IT’S GONE
Once the weather gets cold and snow begins to fall, the iconic chairs are put away and the Terrace is closed for the season. But there’s still plenty of time to soak up the sun and enjoy beautiful views of Lake Mendota. Be sure to stop by before it’s too late!
JOIN AN INTRAMURAL TEAM
Have you considered joining an intramural team? These leagues provide a friendly but competitive environment for people to enjoy playing their favorite sports. While most leagues have started, there’s still time to sign up for 5v5 Basketball, Indoor Volleyball, and Table Tennis! Get more from Recreation and Wellbeing.
ATTEND AN OPEN MIC NIGHT AT THE UNION
The Wisconsin Union hosts an Open Mic Night at Der Rathskeller every Wednesday from 7:45-11:00 p.m. until December 11. This is a perfect opportunity to show off your singing skills to your friends. All styles are welcome!
GET A FLU SHOT
What’s more fun than not getting sick? Okay, getting a shot might not be your definition of “fun”, but it’s a great way to keep yourself and those around you healthy this fall. Luckily, University Health Services (UHS) offers free flu shots! Stop by the UHS clinic at 333 East Campus Mall to receive your flu shot.
CARVE A PUMPKIN!
Halloween is still a month away, but it’s never too early to start decorating! Why not get some friends and carve some UW-themed pumpkins?
GET ACTIVE WITH RECWELL
Staying active is a great way to reduce stress and improve focus and energy. Stop by one of the campus gyms to get a workout in or sign up for a variety of fun and engaging group fitness classes.
ENJOY THE SUNSET FROM PICNIC POINT
Picnic Point is an excellent place to visit when you need a reprieve from the bustle of campus. Take a hike out to the end of the point on a clear night to witness the beautiful, peaceful sunset. You won’t be disappointed!
GET FRESH FOOD AT THE FARMERS’ MARKET
Every Saturday morning until November 16, the farmers’ market sprawls across Capitol Square. The vendors offer plenty of delicious fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, and, of course, cheese! Take a few friends and give it a visit.
CHECK OUT THE CHAZEN MUSEUM OF ART
You’ve walked past it plenty of times, but have you ever visited Chazen? The Chazen Museum of Art is a free museum that has the second-largest collection of art in the state of Wisconsin. This is the perfect place to visit on a rainy day!
ATTEND A VOLLEYBALL MATCH
Attending a volleyball game is a must on campus. The Badgers are a perennial top 10 team and each match has a tremendous atmosphere. They rank near the top of the nation in attendance frequently. Don’t miss out on seeing this team in action!
