Your Campus, Your Guide: Resources for a Great New Semester

By Mia McCauley, Student Affairs Intern

Welcome Badgers—the new semester is about to begin! Whether it’s your first time on campus or you’re a graduating senior, this year will be filled with new energy and opportunities. No matter where you are in your Madison career, there are teams of people and resources to help you be well, get involved, and find your community

Check out these key events and resources:

Activities

Make lifelong connections at Wisconsin Welcome, happening on campus through October 5. Download the app to discover Madison, meet other Badgers, and further familiarize yourself with the campus community.

Stay active and energized with UW Recreation and Wellbeing. Explore state-of-the-art campus gym facilities, and walk, paddle, or even hike with the help of Wisconsin Hoofers

Health, Safety, and Support:

Food and financial assistance are available to ensure all students have support if faced with financial challenges or emergency situations.

Check out the Student Jobs portal for employment opportunities both on and near campus.

If you’re worried about a friend, find resources and share your concerns. If alcohol is involved, remember the university’s medical amnesty guidelines protect both you and the person you’re helping.

As always, mental health support is available for your well-being through University Health Services (UHS).

Community, Engagement, & Inclusivity:

Our campus prioritizes the free exchange of ideas and expressive activity. Become familiar with your rights and limitations on campus to ensure that all viewpoints can be heard.

Finally, if you need help and don’t know where to go, connect with the staff at the Office of Student Assistance and Support. Drop-in staff are available every weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in person, by phone, or virtually. Let’s navigate campus together.

Take advantage of the opportunities before you, challenge yourself, and most importantly, enjoy the journey. Here’s to making this fall semester truly special!
